Coppice Products : from sustainably managed coppiced woodland in Hampshire

NEWS: 01/12/2020 - Temporary Order closure still in effect . except for firewood locally.

Sorry folks, I still seem to be running at a backlog and all my attempts to stem the flow of new orders seems to be a bit in vain, so until further notice I am simply trying to avoid any new orders coming my way. That said if you are local(ish) and have  a simple order for collection or delivery then it is worth contacting me and I will do my best.

Covid-19:
The pandemic has affected me in various ways, shows/course etc cancelled and installation orders put back. This means in some respects I am not much further in terms of clearing backlog as I was in March. If you do order and collect, then please obey current Covid Government directives, thanks.

Current stock:
I am coppicing sweet chestnut and some quality hazel coppice so I can supply some new orders ideally if local to PO9 area and thereabouts, but I still have lots of back orders to fill.

Firewood/kindling: (Good news!)
I have plenty of seasoned and unseasoned cordwood, splitting billets, and split firewood (sweet chestnut) which I am happy to sell locally and can do reduced prices for quantities over 2cubic metre - The legislation changes for selling 'ready to burn firewood' sub 20%moisture will affect my situation come 2022 (it will mean prices have to go up potentially considerably as I join the 'woodsure' scheme (mandatory for selling firweood,). So if you have the space, now is the time to stock up!. Please do contact me with any questions on this.

Coppicing is a seasonal activity, cutting is done in the winter months so to best ensure availability it is worth planning those summer projects well in advance and ordering larger requests (eg 300 hazel rods for weaving or 50m of post and rail chestnut) during the winter months. I hold as much stock as I can into the summer but often run short, focusing then on the pergola builds and othercalendar booked projects.

It is worth mentioning here that if you are much further afield than Hampshire, I'd suggest looking at http://coppice-products.co.uk/ in order to help you get in touch with a more local coppice worker or green woodworker.

Firewood
Firewood/kindling: (Good news!)

Sweet chestnut load (~1cubic metre loose load) £85 delivered and dropped within 20mile radius of PO9 5NA +£1 for every mile over 20 (up to my discretion)
  • Stacking 1cubic metre after delivery from £10 by arrangement
  • Outdoor Firewood stores from £300, constructed onsite from sweet chestnut, various option on roof, from felt to chestnut shakes/shingles etc.
  • Bags of chestnut shavings available £2, fantastic for getting the fire lit!

For the most part my chestnut firewood is seasoned in the woods and split by hand using a maul, because of this I believe my pricing is incredibly competitive, this also means I only have a finite amount for sale each year so it is worth planning ahead and ordering early (August/September) to avoid disappointment!
I am more than happy to sell fresh cut, unseasoned wood as well, for those wishing to season and/or split themselves, poa (the UK Legislation means this will be changing soon and I believe unseasoned sales will be limited to a minimum of 2cubic metres should you wish to season yourself).

It is worth noting that sweet chestnut makes an excellent firewood when properly seasoned but is best used in stoves and log burners because it has a tendency to spit and throw embers.

I also sell a limited amount of charcoal each year in 3kg bags - see my charcoal page
